About our Event

Step back in time when you step through our ballroom doors! Transport back to the regency era of Great Britain. Throughout the nine years between 1811 and 1820, famous authors such as Jane Austen (writer of "Pride and Prejudice") were popularized, and brought to light many of the traditional values and conventions of the day. One of these many popular conventions was the local ball. Before the days of social media and cell phones, local balls were one of the primary ways in which people within communities interacted and engaged with each other. However, they were much more than just a dance. They were a traditional way in which young couples could form in a chaperoned environment, a place where friends could be made, and was a regular event in which communities could look forward to.

At the Phoenix Regency Ball, our aim is to provide Christian families and young people with a fun, safe, and classy excuse to dress up and have a good time. Whether you are a young adult going out with friends, or a family with teens, this ball will surely be an event that you look forward to for years to come!

What Your Ticket Buys You

You may be concerned whether or not our event is worth the money, or perhaps what your money is supporting. If that's you, everything you may need to know should be included in this section. Otherwise, feel free to reach out by using the "Contact" feature at the bottom of this page.

When you buy one of our event tickets for a specific date, that purchase includes all of the following:

  • Complete access to all listed hours of the event (i.e., 5:30PM - 10PM)

  • An assorted array of elegant and gourmet hors d'oeuvres throughout the evening

  • Water, iced tea, lemonade, and coffee throughout the evening

  • Elite dance instruction from both hosts with over 25 years of combined dance experience

  • A safe and chaperoned environment suitable for families, teens, and young adults

  • Exposure to a large network of like-minded Christian families within the community

When you buy a ticket, your money directly supports all those who work hard to make this event possible, as well as goes toward funding the many overhead expenses (like event space rental, food costs, down payments for upcoming event rental spaces, etc.). Any residual is dispersed directly to individuals including, but not limited to, the hosts, the chaperones, the dance instruction team, etc.

If you cannot attend and are interested in supporting us in other ways, we also accept donations as well! All donations support us in all of the ways listed above, as well as a few select local charities. For more information, reach out to us by using the "contact" feature on the bottom of this page. Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will the event be chaperoned? - Yes, because this event will be hosting both college age young adults and families with teenagers, there will be chaperones to ensure safety and to maintain convention.

  • Am I able to drop off my teen? - If your child is under age (under 18), you are NOT allowed to drop them off. There will be a designated area for parents who do not wish to participate to socialize. However, even if your child is of age, we still highly recommend you stay and participate in the dances if you are so inclined. Keep in mind that all guests who choose to participate in the dances (even parents), or partaking of any hors d'oeuvres must also purchase a ticket. However, tickets for parents bringing a teen are $10 dollars cheaper.

  • What type of music will be played? - As this is an old English style dance, the music that is played will primarily revolve around classical baroque and regency-era style ballroom music. Rest assured that there will certainly be no music with foul or inappropriate lyrics played during the event.

  • Can I participate in the dances even if I have never danced before? - We do not expect anyone who is coming to know any of the dances beforehand. This event is designed to teach each dance with zero previous dance experience required.

  • Do I need to come with a date or can I come alone? - Guests are not required to bring a date. In fact, we encourage those without a date to attend because this is primarily a social function designed for people to gather and meet. The more young men and women without a date are present, the more people attending alone can be partnered up with others during each dance.

  • What is the dress code? - Our dress code is outlined in detail in the "Guidelines" section under the "About" drop down menu.

  • Will there be inappropriate dancing? - Our event hosts teach each and every dance at the event. There is no time designated for freestyle dancing. Each dance is very traditional and appropriate for any age. If curious, there is a list of some of the dances that will be taught below.

List of Dances

About the Venue

The Lodge on the Desert was kind enough to host our last Regency Ball in Tucson. The vintage aspects and the classy rustic feel of that historic hotel made it the perfect place for a high-society style ball. This year, we will be hosting our event at Hello Lincoln located in downtown Phoenix. Hello Lincoln is a historic structure in the Downtown Phoenix historic Warehouse District. The original building was constructed in 1927 for the Arizona Sash, Door & Glass Company.

Sam and Anita Means purchased this site in January of 2019 in hopes of restoring it to its former historic charm. An extensive year long remodel of the inside has given this building new life. Everything has been replaced or fixed with special character and care. Because of this notable history and careful restoration, Hello Lincoln has notable features including brick construction, a gabled roof supported by wood trusses, a stepped parapet, several large wood and barn doors, and a combination of steel and wood windows, from a period of World War II when there was no steel present.
